These Workshops will introduce the student, in a step-by-step process, to multiple types of bowstrings and jigs.

Continuous Loop
Throughout each Workshop students will have a hands on experience learning about string material, techniques, terminology, tools and jigs from historical to modern. Within each Workshop participants will leave with their very own custom string.
Introduction to Flemish Twist
Open-ended Flemish Twist
Students will start with one of humankind’s oldest crafting skills: how to make cordage. Using single colour string material 8125 we will learn the ancient cordage method. Our Instructors will guide each student in creating their very own personalized single loop Flemish Twist using modern materials applying the cordage method. Upon completion students will then learn a variety of knots to close their string.

Beginner String Crafting
Flemish Backtwist
In this Workshop, students will apply the cordage method using two colours of their choice, this time acquiring the knowledge of ‘backtwisting’ their string before learning how to close their lower loop. Upon completion of their Flemish Backtwist string students will finish by being taught how to serve their string using a serving tool and the ‘nail’ or ‘constrictor’ knot.

Intermediate String Crafting
The Flemish Twist Board
This Workshop takes the Student to another level: crafting their own Customized Flemish Twist Board. Using Finnish Birch plywood each Student will decorate, measure and mark then assemble their board using brass, copper, or steel tacknails to create a long lasting personalized string jig of their own. Participants will complete this Workshop by constructing a multi bundle Flemish Backtwist String.

Intro to Continuous Loop
Simple Continuous Loop String
This Workshop will introduce Students to working with a specialized jig to produce this modern string style. Instructors will walk each student through the materials, method and technique needed to complete their personalized single colour continuous loop string with upper, lower and centre serving.
Cost: $130 (excl. tax), includes lessons & materials
Workshops are held on Saturdays 15:30-17:30/18:00 dependent on workshops. No workshops on the third Saturday of each month, any changes will be emailed.
A change of shoes is required.
Unfortunately due to the nature of these workshops we will be unable to issue refunds for cancellation.
Cancellation Policy:
Client Cancellation must be received by email lykopisinfo@gmail.com during business hours. Phone cancellations will not be accepted.
Client/Student missed classes will NOT BE REFUNDED or REBOOKED.
Lykopis cancelled classes/workshops – in case of circumstances such as but not limited to weather/sickness Lykopis will offer to make 2 options for make-up classes. If the student/client is unable to attend the available make-up class/workshop, no refund/credit will be given. If Lykopis is unable to reschedule a class/workshop, a 60% credit will be given.
Client cancelled events – in case of circumstances such as but not limited to weather/sickness Lykopis will endeavor to make 2 attempts to reschedule the event. If we are unable to reschedule the event, and the client cancels, a refund of 40% will be given.
